CURTAIL CLIMATE CHANGE - BACKGROUND INFO

Climate Change! It’s scary! Stopping it seems impossible but if we really try we can do it. It’s kind of like making a living as a musician - if you listen to the people who say it’s impossible, then you won’t try and it won’t happen. But if you persist, you can do it!

There’s a lot to say about climate change. This short video paints a picture of our current challenge to keep warming to 1.5 C or 2 C at the max.

Detailed information on climate change can be found here: https://www.ipcc.ch/about/

Make a donation to https://climateemergencyfund.org/ or an environmental organization of your choice

OR write to your House Representative in support of HR 2664 to provide economic empowerment opportunities in the United States through the modernization of public housing, the Build Green Infrastructure and Jobs Act (as yet unnumbered), H Res 332, recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal, HR 2519 to prohibit drilling on the outer continental shelf, and HR 1512 the CLEAN Future Act.

Example letter to cut and paste (please personalize your own reason for supporting the bill):

Hi Rep [Name],

Thanks for all the work you do on behalf of our state. I'm a constituent writing in support of a number of environmental bills under consideration in the House. I’m asking that you please support: HR 2664 to provide economic empowerment opportunities in the United States through the modernization of public housing, the Build Green Infrastructure and Jobs Act (as yet unnumbered), H Res 332, recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal, HR 2519 to prohibit drilling on the outer continental shelf, and HR 1512 the CLEAN Future Act. Climate change is a top security and health risk to our country--we have to do everything we can to address it quickly.

Best regards,

[Your Name]

We care deeply about the issues we are highlighting but our overriding motivation is to support everyone in their participation in the democratic process.
